I'm catching up a little here as yesterday was quite busy for several reasons and I'm a little behind (No comments there) ;-)
We had the luxury of a slightly later start today as in walking milage, it was a shorter day since my schedule was to walk from Caen to the port at Ouistreham..
It was a sad day also as it was the last day that Michelle would be with us driving the support car as she had commitments the she needed to return to Spain for.. I couldn't say enough how fantastic she has been x
Once we had left the hotel and took a few pics, we headed through Caen and into the country roads on the route we chose.
We had some breakfast a few miles afterwards at a patissier and continued onward and upwards :)
Eventually, we had our first view of the ocean which felt a massive achievement for us all...
Alison once again maintained her promise to give us sunny weather and walked the full distance with me - this was a lot shorter than every other day at only 10.7 miles so in some ways felt like a rest day..
This 10.7 miles through was actually enough to take the total distance walked over the 1000 miles (1000.2)...
We arrived at the port a few hours before departure so we stopped for some drinks and Churros...
Boarding the ferry wasn't exactly straight forward as Brum was selected by customs to be the vehicle that they wanted to fully check... Armed with screwdrivers!!! gulp!!
All was ok though and the officials were great to talk with so eventually, we boarded the boat...
The entertainment on the boat consisted of quizes and rugby... Obviously I mean the world cup on tv... I couldnt imagine Michelle and Alison playing rugby... Although, that might have been more entertaining.... ;-)
Oh... and the quiz had Michelle in fits of laughter... Dont ask me why because I do not have a clue..lol
It was quite late when we arrived in Portsmouth so we went to get a fish & chips take-out and went straight to the hotel that was kindly sponsored by a friend of mine John Ashcroft... Thank you so much John.
I then had to take Michelle to Bournemouth airport for here early morning flight so didnt get back to the hotel again until after 2.30... Quite a mixed emotional day really... So pleased that we hit two targets in 1000 miles and the completion of another country (France) but also sad with Michelle having to leave... but we will skype her into the final stages
Day 41 would take us from Portsmouth/Cosham to Bordon
